MANHATTAN - Today, candidate for Manhattan District Attorney Dan Quart released the following statement:
“Today, Jean Kim came forward with deeply disturbing and credible allegations of sexual harassment and assault by Scott Stringer while working on his campaign. Coming forward is never easy, it requires enormous courage, especially in the face of power. I support Ms. Kim and I believe her.
“It’s critical that our leaders hold people in power accountable. We must make it easier for women to come forward, support them when they do, and demand accountability. This isn’t complicated. Scott’s behavior is unacceptable in any workplace. He should suspend his campaign for mayor of New York City immediately.”
“Sexual harassment and assault has been a pervasive problem in our state for decades and creates a toxic workplace for women in New York politics. We’ve seen this in Albany, where staffers were silenced for years by lawyers and leadership. And when they collectively organized for stronger harassment reforms, they still had to fight for a seat at the negotiating table. We must make it easier for women to come forward, support them when they do, and demand accountability. Nothing less is acceptable.”
